In the title compound, C(13)H(10)N(2)O(2), a Schiff base derivative, the dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 31.58†(3)°. The C=N double bond is essentially coplanar with the nitro-phenyl ring. The torsion angle of the imine double bond is 175.97†(13)°, indicating that the C=N double bond is in a trans configuration. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H⋯O contacts and π-π inter-actions (centroid-centroid distances of 3.807 and 3.808à ).
