The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(12)H(22)N(+)·CH(3)O(3)S(-), consists of three (3,5-di-methyl-adamantan-1-yl)ammonium cations, C(12)H(22)N(+), and three methane-sulfonate anions, CH(3)O(3)S(-). In the crystal, the cations and anions associate via N-Hâ¯O hydrogen bonds into layers, parallel to the (001) plane, which include large supra-molecular hydrogen-bonded rings.
