Abstract
We present a genome assembly from an individual male Synanthedon formicaeformis (the Red-tipped Clearwing; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Sesiidae). The genome sequence is 321.2 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 31 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the Z sex chromosome. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 15.8 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 11,852 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
