Abstract

Sports tourism has emerged as a popular means of relaxation and psychological enrichment. This study explores the influence of the sports tourism field on tourists' flow experience, with a focus on the mediating role of tourism involvement and the moderating role of personality traits. Data were collected via questionnaires at several representative sports tourism demonstration sites in China, yielding 454 valid responses. The results revealed that the sports tourism field significantly enhances tourists' flow experience, and that tourism involvement partially mediates this relationship. Furthermore, personality traits-particularly extroversion-moderate the effect of the tourism field on flow experience, amplifying its impact. The findings offer theoretical insights and practical implications for optimizing destination design and enriching tourists' immersive experiences in sports tourism.
