Abstract

Premise of the study: Microsatellite markers from the genome of Diplarche multiflora were developed and characterized to investigate its genetic diversity and population structure. • Methods and results: Twenty-seven microsatellite loci were isolated from the genome of D. multiflora using the Fast Isolation by AFLP of Sequences COntaining repeats (FIASCO) protocol. Of these markers, 17 were polymorphic, and the number of alleles for the polymorphic microsatellite markers ranged from two to four, with an average of 2.2 per allele. The observed and expected heterozygosities varied from 0.0000 to 1.0000 and from 0.0000 to 0.7826, respectively. • Conclusions: These polymorphic microsatellite markers will be useful for population genetic studies and for assessing the genetic diversity of this alpine species.
