Abstract
This project was undertaken to provide a framework for the interactive growth and updating of an undergraduate pathology curriculum. The knowledge base supporting it is a series of detailed hierarchical outlines of many topics in general and systemic pathology, with learning objectives and selected references attached. Any part of the knowledge base can be accessed from any other part. Other operational features include the means to (1) make comments in context; (2) time stamp all modifications of the text; (3) dynamically create modified versions to suit local curriculum-specific needs; (4) place user specific “bookmarks” at any point in the text for direct return to that place; (5) generate an alphabetical index of key words and phrases.
