Abstract
AIM: This study aimed to explore the learning experiences of baccalaureate nursing students in a Curriculum-based Ideological and Political Education integrated Ophthalmic Nursing course, in order to provide evidence for the refinement of future pedagogical frameworks. DESIGN: A descriptive phenomenological approach was adopted within a qualitative research design. METHODS: Participants were recruited using purposive sampling from third-year baccalaureate nursing students enrolled in the Ophthalmic Nursing course. Data were collected through in-depth, semi-structured individual interviews from 29 November to 13 December 2024. All interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Data analysis followed Colaizzi's seven-step method for phenomenological analysis. RESULTS: Twelve individual interviews were completed. Analysis of the data revealed three main themes: (1) opinions on pedagogical approaches and interactive modalities; (2) a requirement for clinically focused educational content; and (3) appropriate Curriculum-based Ideological and Political Education content, yet undiversified delivery formats. NO PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION: Participants were nursing students; no patients, service users, or members of the public were involved in the design, conduct, or reporting of this research.
