Abstract
To understand changes in New Orleans' wastewater microbial community resulting from tourism surges surrounding Carnivale, we characterized the bacterial diversity present in municipal wastewater from New Orleans East Bank and Mandeville Public Works wastewater treatment plants using 16S rRNA metabarcoding. Samples were taken every Thursday for 10 weeks, spanning the 2023 Carnivale season.
