Abstract
This study investigates the therapeutic efficacy of a self-prepared Shireqing mixture in managing chronic prostatitis (CP) characterized by damp-heat downward injection. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 96 patients diagnosed with CP of the damp-heat downward injection type, divided into a control group (n = 48) and an observation group (n = 48). Patients in the control group received treatment with tamsulosin hydrochloride sustained release capsule in combination with levofloxacin tablets, while patients in the observation group were administered a Self-Made Shireqing Mixture. The scores of National Institutes of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index and the results of prostatic fluid examination were compared before and after treatment. Additionally, any adverse reactions experienced by the patients during the treatment process were meticulously documented. Following the treatment, there are significant reduction for the pain scores (t = 2.124, P = .036), urinary symptoms evaluation scores (t = 7.127, P < .001), quality of life scores (t = 3.461, P < .001), overall scores of National Institutes of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index (t = 5.287, P < .001), white blood cell count (t = 2.708, P = .008), and lecithin body distribution level (t = 2.683, P = .009) in the observation group compared to the control group. Additionally, the total effective rate in the observation group surpassed that of the control group (P < .05), with no significant variance in adverse reaction incidence between the 2 groups (P > .05). The Self-Made Shireqing blend has demonstrated efficacy and safety in managing individuals suffering from CP with damp-heat descending syndrome.
