Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of psychological nursing intervention in alleviating depressive symptoms, improving treatment compliance, and enhancing cognitive function in patients with schizophrenia. A total of 92 patients with schizophrenia were included and randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 46 patients in each group. The observation group received both pharmacological treatment and psychological nursing intervention, while the control group only received routine pharmacological treatment. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the brief psychiatric rating scale (BPRS), and cognitive function was evaluated using the mini-mental state examination. Treatment effectiveness was defined by changes in BPRS scores. The psychological nursing intervention included health education, cognitive intervention, and psychological counseling, aimed at improving patients' treatment compliance and enhancing both emotional and cognitive functions. Treatment effectiveness was defined by the degree of BPRS score reduction (significant effect: BPRS score reduced by more than 75%; improvement: BPRS score reduced by 25% to 75%; ineffective: BPRS score reduced by <25%). After treatment, the BPRS scores of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group, and the mini-mental state examination scores were significantly higher (P < .05). In terms of treatment effectiveness, the total effective rate in the observation group was 95.65%, significantly higher than the 69.57% in the control group (P < .05). Regarding treatment compliance, the observation group had a total compliance rate of 93.48%, significantly higher than the 76.09% in the control group (P < .05). Psychological nursing intervention can significantly improve depressive symptoms in schizophrenia patients, enhance treatment compliance, and positively affect cognitive function. This intervention method can serve as an effective complement to routine pharmacological treatment, offering a new and effective approach to the comprehensive treatment of schizophrenia.
