Abstract
Ophthalmic trauma surgery is complex and often requires utilization of skills not commonly used in routine ocular surgery. Ophthalmic surgeons should have a comprehensive understanding of trauma related instruments to maximize clinical outcomes in these difficult cases. Here we review surgical instruments, techniques, tips, and tricks that are helpful during ophthalmic trauma surgery with special consideration for cases of open globe injuries and intraocular foreign bodies. We hope that this review can serve as a resource for both novice and experienced surgeons when planning for ophthalmic trauma surgery.
