Abstract
This paper describes a program which enables a personal computer to facilitate many of the routine and repetitive calculations and tasks performed in the course of Pediatric Endocrine practice. The program 1) establishes a database of patients with pertinent demographic information and diagnoses; 2) keeps flow charts of patients' progress in terms of growth, attainment of pubertal milestones and pertinent laboratory data; 3) calculates growth percentiles, standard deviation scores, growth velocities and height predictions; 4) displays growth curves; 5) creates a hard copy of the patient encounter or files one in ASCII format for future printing; 6) displays lists of patients by diagnosis category; and, 7) analyzes patient encounter activity. It requires an IBM compatible personal computer, hard drive, EGA or VGA monitor and card and a dot matrix printer.
