Abstract

OBJECTIVES: To clarify the epidemiological characteristics of Flu A, ADV, RSV, MP, HRV and Flu B in Henan, China. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the nucleic acid test results of respiratory pathogens in 33,922 patients in a comprehensive hospital from April 2023 to March 2025. RESULTS: The total number of positive cases was 12,574, accounting for 37.07%. The overall positive rates were as follows: HRV 10.26%, MP 10.03%, Flu A 9.49%, RSV 5.67%, ADV 4.38%, and Flu B 2.87%. Flu A showed a gradually increasing trend with age, while RSV showed a gradually decreasing trend. MP, ADV, and HRV showed an initial increase followed by a decrease. Flu B showed relatively small fluctuations with age. Flu A and HRV exhibited a more obvious seasonal periodic high incidence; while ADV, MP, and Flu B successively showed high incidence from July 2023 to April 2024; RSV showed high incidence from April to June 2023 and from October 2023 to April 2024. CONCLUSIONS: The epidemic cycles and age-gender correlations of different pathogens are different in Henan, China. This provides effective support for a more rational understanding of the epidemic cycle of pathogens, precise screening and diagnosis, and vaccine development.
