WHAT IS ALREADY KNOWN ABOUT THIS TOPIC? Over the past several decades, China has experienced substantial improvements in life expectancy (LE), signifying major advancements in public health outcomes. WHAT IS ADDED BY THIS REPORT? This study offers an in-depth analysis of the contributions made by various diseases and age demographics to the growth of LE in China over the past 35 years, highlighting crucial factors that influence population health. WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH PRACTICE?
