Abstract
INTRODUCTION: It is rare to have Fusobacterium PLAs without concomitant Lemiere's syndrome. CASE DESCRIPTION: Two healthy, young males with a history of binge drinking developed cryptogenic Fusobacterium liver abscesses, but without Lemiere's syndrome. We highlight differences in disease severity, bacterial species, and management. DISCUSSION: Further research is needed to determine if Fusobacterium may cause PLAs in young men who consume alcohol. Source control in small abscesses may be more important than previously considered. Given the similarities in patient geography and hospitalization dates coupled to its rarity, this may be a growing issue that public healthcare leaders should be aware of.
