Abstract
Eugene Goldwasser spent 25 years working on the purification of erythropoietin. He eventually succeeded by using a 7-step purification procedure on 2550 liters of urine collected from people with aplastic anemia. His final yield was 8 mg. Goldwasser published these results in the Journal of Biological Chemistry Classic paper reprinted here. Purification of Human Erythropoietin (Miyake, T., Kung, C. K., and Goldwasser, E. (1977) J.
