Abstract
CASE SUMMARY: Mitral valve vegetations carry a significant risk of recurrent thromboembolism, with limited transcatheter treatment options due to concerns for embolization. We present a case of a patient with a large mitral valve vegetation who suffered an acute stroke and was deemed to be at prohibitive risk of surgical intervention. Percutaneous transseptal aspiration thrombectomy was performed using the FlowTriever system with full systemic embolic protection via the ŌNŌ transcatheter retrieval system. TAKE-HOME MESSAGES: Percutaneous transseptal aspiration thrombectomy with the FlowTriever system in combination with the ŌNŌ transcatheter retrieval system can provide full-body embolic protection and is a novel therapeutic approach for high-risk patients.
