Abstract
BACKGROUND: Postsurgical pseudoaneurysms at the anastomosis of saphenous vein grafts are uncommon and may result in catastrophic complications owing to their fragility and the risk of rupture, which can lead to significant hemorrhage. CASE SUMMARY: We present a case of a 77-year-old man referred for cardiac catheterization 2 days after bypass surgery, who was diagnosed with an anastomotic pseudoaneurysm. He received percutaneous implantation of microcoils and an embolic vascular agent, leading to a satisfactory recovery. DISCUSSION: Postoperative complications after cardiac surgery are prevalent and influence mortality rates, duration of hospitalization, and consequently health care expenditures. Transcatheter procedures employing microcoils and embolic agents can effectively and relatively easily address these complications.
