Rebranding "The Lab Years" as "Professional Development" in Order to Redefine the Modern Surgeon Scientist

Dedicated “lab time” and surgeon scientist training in residency is losing popularity. Junior residents have a strong interest in professional development, and surgeons are diverse in their contributions towards scientific progress. “Lab time” in residency should be re-branded as “professional development time.”
