•A concern about this article is the amount of blood withdrawal during acute normovolemic hemodilution,•Acute normovolemic hemodilution must be one of the best strategies to prevent perioperative red blood cell transfusion•Risk of large fluid replacement during acute normovolemic hemodilution should be consider to ensure patients safety.
