Abdominopelvic inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor that metastasized to the vertebrae and liver: A case report and review of the literature

•Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) tends to locally recur but rarely metastasizes.•IMT tends to locally recur but rarely metastasizes.•IMTs that do not express anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) have worse prognosis.•Current trials for ALK targeted therapies show promise in treating this neoplasm.
