Abstract
Ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) as a crucial mechanism for protein degradation is involved in regulation of cellular processes. Dysregulation of UPS can be associated with tumor progression by modulation of tumor suppressors and oncogenes. F-box proteins (FBPs) play a significant role in the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway (UPP) by targeting specific protein sequences and engaging in post-translational modifications, thus affecting various pathophysiological processes. MiRNAs regulate FBP functions, and their deregulation has been observed in numerous cancers. In the present review, we discussed the role of miRNAs in tumor progression by regulation of FBPs. FBXW7 is the main F-box protein that can be modulated by the miRNAs in tumor cells. It has been shown that miRNAs had mainly oncogenic functions in tumor cells by FBPs targeting. MiRNA/FBP axis can be introduced as a reliable diagnostic and therapeutic option in cancer patients.
