Abstract
INTRODUCTION: We present a patient with a rare vascular emergency of mycotic profunda femoris artery pseudoaneurysm presented as an expanding hematoma. PRESENTATION OF CASE: The patient presented with acute onset complaints of severe pain and swelling of the left thigh, mimicking DVT, and was inevitable for limb loss in the absence of timely intervention. DISCUSSION: The pseudoaneurysm being located in the mid profunda femoris artery was located deep in the intra-muscular plane with adjacent hematoma precluding an open surgical approach. A selective endovascular approach was preferred over an open surgical approach. During the repair, it's pertinent to safeguard the superficial femoral artery as it is the distal runoff vessel to the foot. CONCLUSION: The patient suffered from a mycotic profunda femoris artery pseudoaneurysm for which he was treated with an interventional radiological guided endovascular approach and additionally antibiotics were given to prevent post-operative infection.
