Abstract
The title compound [systematic name: (2S)-1-ethoxy-3-methyl-1-oxobutan-2-aminium chloride], C(7)H(16)NO(2) (+)·Cl(-), is the hydro-chloride salt of the ethyl ester of l-valine. In the crystal, classical hydrogen bonds of the N-H⋯Cl type are observed alongside C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl contacts, connecting the entities of the asymmetric unit into sheets lying perpendicular to the crystallographic a axis.
