Abstract
In the title complex, [Zn(C(15)H(10)ClN(3))(NO(3))(2)], the central zinc(II) atom is penta-coordinated by two O-bonded nitrate ions and three N atoms of the 4'-chloro-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand in a slightly distorted trigonal-bipyramidal shape. The main feature of the title complex packing is the presence of offset π-π inter-actions between the terpyridine rings in different layers. This structure constitutes the first known example of a zinc(II) 4-chloro-terpyridine complex with coordinating nitrate ions.
