Abstract
BACKGROUND: To share our experience of cervical esophagus reconstruction with free jejunum flap after laryngopharyngectomy. METHODS: This study examines the complications, the oncological and the functional results in a series of 14 consecutive patients from Jul 1, 2007 to Dec 14, 2015. RESULTS: A good swallowing has been preserved in all our patients. Donor site complications included ileus and acalculous cholecystitis. Mean time to try oral water is 12 days. Median time of disease free survival time is 34 months. CONCLUSIONS: Free jejunum reconstruction for cervical esophagus is the best option for total pharyngolaryngectomy, especially for earlier stages or long disease-free survival patients.
