Abstract
HyperBrain is a program for teaching neuroanatomy using HyperCard and the “Slice of Life” videodisc. The program has been used by two classes of 100 students at the University of Utah and certain modules have been evaluated by students in Virginia and Texas. The overwhelming question is how can a few individuals tackle an area as large and diverse as neuroscience. We decided to construct a shell and build an interface that can accommodate modules or stacks developed elsewhere. HyperBrain (syllabus, quizzes, pathways, glossary, videodisc index and animated reflexes) is the core of the shell. It will be demonstrated together with modules developed elsewhere. Issues of copyright, price, modifiability, student tracking, editorial review, videodisc support, hardware, software and CD-ROM are open for discussion.
