Abstract

Pleomorphic dermal sarcoma (PDS) is an undifferentiated high-grade tumour and is considered the most common primary soft tissue tumour in adults. The most common locations of PDS are the trunk, extremities and retroperitoneal regions. Skin involvement of PDS is rare, and involvement of the scalp is less common. Most cases of PDS appear as a gradually growing lesion for 1 to 2 years and are associated with ulceration and bleeding. The definitive treatment for PDS is usually surgical resection. We present an unusual case of a primary PDS involving the scalp of a 78-year-old male patient and discuss its unusual clinical presentation, dermoscopic features, histopathological correlation and its management.
