Abstract
BACKGROUND: Insulin resistance (IR) is becoming progressively more common and is closely associated with hypothyroidism (HO). It is of research interest to explore the association between IR and HO and the current state of research. METHODS: We chose the Web of Science Core Collection database as the data source and searched to obtain relevant literature on IR and HO. In addition, we used CiteSpace (version 6.1.R6) and Scimago Graphica (version 1.0.41) to analyze the related literatures. RESULTS: A total of 773 articles were included in the literature, with an overall upward trend in the number of publications. There were 201 countries or institutions involved, and the United States was the country with the most publications. There were 2305 related institutions, with Medical University of Silesia as the institution with the highest number of publications. There were 4164 authors involved, with significant collaborations between authors. A total of 346 journals published literature on IR related to HO. The most frequently occurring keywords were IR, subclinical HO, and HO, in addition to metabolic syndrome, insulin sensitivity, and thyroid function. CONCLUSION: IR and HO-related studies are gradually gaining attention, and related studies are gradually expanding to metabolic syndrome, insulin level, and other related topics.
