Abstract

BACKGROUND: This case report details the successful surgical management of a giant antrochoanal polyp in a resource-limited setting (Democratic Republic of Congo). PATIENT PRESENTATION: A 22-year-old patient presented with severe nasal obstruction, dysphagia, and snoring. The patient was of Hunde ethnicity, indigenous to the eastern-central Democratic Republic of Congo. Diagnosis confirmed a polyp extending from the left maxillary sinus to the oropharynx. Despite constraints, complete excision was achieved via a modified Caldwell-Luc approach, demonstrating adaptive surgical technique. The patient experienced excellent postoperative recovery, confirming the clinical feasibility of managing complex pathologies in low-resource environments. CONCLUSION: This case provides transferable insights for clinicians in similar settings, highlighting how surgical ingenuity can achieve high-quality outcomes. It stands as evidence of resilient care delivery and underscores the critical need for equitable access to surgical solutions globally.
