Abstract

Extramedullary hematopoiesis occurs primarily in patients with hematologic disorders and is a physiological response to chronic anemia. Its pathophysiology remains unknown. It commonly affects the liver, spleen, and lymph nodes. Vertebral involvement is the least affected site. Clinically, it is asymptomatic unless complications arise, such as spinal cord compression. MRI remains the key diagnostic tool. We herein report the case of a 47-year-old female patient with a history of severe anemia since the age of 16 and pancytopenia, admitted to the emergency department for sudden-onset febrile jaundice.
