Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW: This review article examines the etiology, treatments, and outcomes related to common hip and pelvis musculoskeletal conditions associated with pregnancy. We explore the physiological changes that occur during pregnancy and other risk factors to better understand these conditions and their management. RECENT FINDINGS: While some physiological changes are inevitable, other behavioral and psychological factors can be modified in ways that promote healthy pregnancies and better birth and postpartum outcomes. SUMMARY: We shed light on the potential of pre-habilitation exercises for injury prevention and explore the spectrum of treatment options available to pregnant women including physical rehabilitation, complementary and alternative modalities, and medications.
