Abstract
PURPOSE: To demonstrate the utility of optical coherence tomography (OCT) in the emergency department (ED) setting. OBSERVATIONS: We present five patients who presented with ophthalmic complaints to the ED at an academic trauma center and whose management was immediately impacted after undergoing imaging with spectral-domain OCT. CONCLUSIONS AND IMPORTANCE: OCT is an effective imaging modality for facilitating the appropriate triage and diagnosis of patients with ophthalmic complaints in the ED.
