Abstract
This study aims to understand the discharge readiness status of colorectal cancer stoma patients and analyze their influencing factors to provide a basis for healthcare professionals to develop discharge guidance intervention strategies. This study adopted a cross-sectional study design. A convenience sampling method was used to select patients with colorectal cancer stoma in 2 tertiary-level hospitals in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, from August 2023 to January 2025. A general information questionnaire, Discharge Guidance Quality Scale, and discharge readiness scale for patients with colorectal stoma were used to conduct the survey. One-way analysis and multivariate stepwise linear regression were applied to analyze the influencing factors of the patients' discharge readiness, with the level of significance set at P < .05 in the statistical analysis. The discharge readiness score of colorectal cancer stoma patients was (119.53 ± 29.14), which was at a moderate level, and the scores of each dimension were in descending order of expected support, disease knowledge, personal status, and coping ability. The results of multivariate stepwise linear regression analysis showed that the quality of discharge instructions, postoperative complications, and place of residence were factors influencing the discharge readiness of colorectal cancer stoma patients (P < .05). The discharge readiness of colorectal cancer stoma patients is moderate and requires further improvement. Among them, the quality of discharge instructions, postoperative complications, and place of residence are all key factors influencing the discharge readiness of colorectal cancer stoma patients.
