Abstract
VentPlan is an implementation of an architecture for combining qualitative and quantitative computation in a therapy planner. VentPlan interprets patient data measurements, ventilator settings, and clinical diagnoses, then incorporates these data in a physiologic model. A quantitative modeling system, a belief network and a multiattribute value model work together to refine a patient-specific physiologic model and to calculate recommended treatment plans (settings of the ventilator). Communication among these modules occurs through a shared meaning and probabilistic representation for a common set of physiologic parameters.
