Abstract
Sialocele is a relatively common post-traumatic complication of parotid gland interventions caused by localized saliva accumulation. Treatment guidelines are not well-established and currently rely on a stepwise management algorithm, with surgical treatment representing a definitive, last resort option. However, surgery often alleviates symptoms at the expense of compromising future gland function. Ductoplasty is a minimally invasive technique that has been previously described with success in treating parotid duct stenosis and sialolithiasis. However, its use has never been documented for treating sialocele. Here, we present a case of a 59-year-old female who presented with a multiloculated infected parotid sialocele arising after sialoendoscopy for chronic sialadenitis. Sialography demonstrated ductal stenosis and a parotid ductoplasty using balloon dilation was performed to relieve the stricture. The patient reported significant improvement and tolerated the procedure well without acute complications. This case report highlights the successful use of parotid ductoplasty in treating parotid sialocele.
