Abstract
Vernix caseosa peritonitis is a rare postpartum cause of acute abdomen. It is thought to occur due to a granulomatous reaction from intraperitoneal amniotic fluid or meconium. We present a case of a 34-year-old woman with vernix caseosa peritonitis and associated radiographic findings on computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Improved awareness and understanding of imaging findings in vernix caseosa peritonitis is important to ensure appropriate early management and to prevent removal of healthy organs.
