Abstract
PURPOSE: This case report highlights cystoid macular edema (CME) as a complication of Nd:YAG laser vitreolysis. OBSERVATIONS: Nd:YAG laser has become commonplace for capsulotomy, iridotomy, and selective laser trabeculoplasty, however there are limited studies on its use in vitreolysis for the disruption of symptomatic floaters. Here, we present a case of CME following Nd:YAG laser vitreolysis that was confirmed with fluorescein angiography. CONCLUSIONS AND IMPORTANCE: CME is reported here as a complication of Nd:YAG vitreolysis. Further inquiry is needed to elucidate the true incidence of adverse events and the safety profile of the procedure. We hope to raise awareness for the treating physicians to investigate for CME if visual acuity is reduced following Nd:YAG laser vitreolysis.
