Abstract
Ecological function zoning is a fundamental task for scientifically coordinating economic development and ecological protection. It constructed a comprehensive gross ecosystem product (GEP) accounting index system of the terrestrial ecosystem, and ecological function zoning was carried out through principal component analysis. It showed that from 2005 to 2020, the GEP rose from 14201.29 billion yuan to 28702.22 billion yuan in the Yellow River Basin (YRB), while the GEP increased from 23731.23 billion yuan to 48866.62 billion yuan in the Yangtze River Basin (YZRB); EPV, ERV, and ECV generally showed an upward trend. ECV experienced a rapid increase in the upstream region of the YRB and in the midstream area of the YZRB. Based on GEP accounting, it scientifically reflected the potential value of ecosystem service functions and provided an important way to improve the ecological compensation mechanism and guide natural capital into ecological industrialization.
