Abstract

Pediatric spindle cell tumors are rare tumors involving head and neck region. The histology of this type of tumor varies from benign to malignant. Immunohistochemical markers (IHC) help in differentiating and grading of tumor. In this study we encountered 3 different types of spindle cell tumor in pediatric age group in 1 year. The first case was low grade fibro myxoid sarcoma in posterior triangle of neck. The second case was fibromatosis coli which was managed surgically. Third case was solitary plexiform neurofibroma in deep lobe of parotid gland which was also treated surgically. The preoperatively diagnosis of these spindle cell tumors was challenging despite adequate and relevant investigations. The IHC markers helped in clinching the diagnosis.
