Abstract

This article contains data related to the research article titled "Compressive strength of glass ionomer and composite resin. In vitro study" (Blanco et al., 2017). The presented data gives information about the compressive strength of two restorative materials (Tetric N-Ceram(®) resin and Vitremer TM(®) resin) in class I cavities in birradicular premolars. The dental organs were subjected to a compressive vertical force at different deeps of cavities preparation until obtain fracture of the restorative material. Compression Resistance values of 380.5 are obtained; 387; 399.2; 419.9; 422.4; 428; 432.1 and 429 N for Tetric N-Ceram(®) and 349.4 resin; 350.2; 356.1; 369; 390.7; 416.2; 424 and 426.8 for the Vitremer TM(®) ionomer. There are significant statistical differences (p < 0.05) between restorative materials. The resin Tetric N-Ceram(®), showed higher resistance to compression than Vitremer TM(®) resin in all depths.
