Abstract
Peritonitis is an acute inflammation of the peritoneum. Perforations, ruptures, or necrosis of the digestive tract are responsible for secondary bacterial peritonitis. Treatment includes fluid and respiratory resuscitation, antibiotic therapy, and surgery. The objectives of surgical treatment are to control the pathological process responsible for contamination, reduce bacterial contamination of the peritoneum, and prevent residual infection. We conducted a retrospective study in the General Surgery Department of the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Marrakech, involving 6 cases (n=6) of rare causes of supramesocolic peritonitis, to demonstrate the diagnostic challenges and the importance of rapid and multidisciplinary management in the prognosis of peritonitis.
