Abstract
Western blotting is a well established technique used to study proteins from a wide variety of sources. The technique is used throughout the life sciences from basic research to medical diagnostic applications. Western Blot is at best considered as semi-quantitative and hence limited to studies involving large protein differences. Here we demonstrate the use of a new ECL™ reagent, Amersham™ ECL Prime in a number of typical Western Blotting applications. The results demonstrate that, Amersham ECL Prime can be used for detection of low abundant proteins, that signals are very stable over time and cover a broad dynamic range. These features make Amersham ECL Prime highly suitable for accurate quantitative analysis.
