Abstract
BACKGROUND: Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) and venous sinus stenosis have recently been implicated in the pathogenesis of encephaloceles. OBSERVATIONS: Here, the authors present 2 cases in which venous sinus stenting was crucial for symptom management either after surgical repair of an encephalocele or as a stand-alone treatment. LESSONS: Venous sinus stenting is emerging as a novel treatment option in the management of encephaloceles associated with IIH. https://thejns.org/doi/10.3171/CASE24855.
