Abstract
Sepsis is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in critically ill patients, particularly those with underlying liver disease. The past decade has seen a paradigm shift in the understanding and management of sepsis, driven by refined definitions, improved risk stratification tools, and organ-specific therapeutic strategies. This review summarizes the evolving landscape of sepsis pathophysiology, highlights emerging biomarkers, and integrates recent advances in artificial intelligence and precision medicine. We also provide a detailed discussion on organ-specific supportive strategies and potential future directions. Understanding these developments is critical for hepatologists and intensivists aiming to reduce sepsis-associated mortality.
