Abstract
This chapter briefly describes genomics, the study of genomes of living organisms and researches and studies conducted in this field. It throws some light on the different genome projects and also the customers involved in genomics. It explains the various types of researches and the diagnostic needs, including the whole genome sequencing, comparative genome sequencing, targeted re-sequencing, metagenomics, functional genomics.
