Abstract
PURPOSE: This article aims to determine if and how social capital enables inter-organizational knowledge and information transfer in long-term care (LTC) for older persons and within what boundary conditions. DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: The study builds on a survey of key LTC actors (N = 265) representing public, private and non-governmental organizations. FINDINGS: Our findings revealed a positive relationship between two social capital dimensions and knowledge and information transfer. In addition, partial support was provided for the moderating effects of sector and resource availability. ORIGINALITY/VALUE: Our study explores to what extent social capital facilitates inter-organizational knowledge and information transfer in LTC. Secondly, it contributes to the broader knowledge management literature by disclosing two boundary conditions in the above relationship.
