Abstract

Parents play a crucial role in supporting children with hearing aids (HA), yet they often lack access to comprehensive information on HA care and management. This study evaluated the effectiveness of an online HA Management video module in improving parental knowledge, perceptions, confidence, and HA monitoring practices. Using a quasi-experimental design, 55 parents of children under ten who use at least one HA completed pre- and post-intervention questionnaires, with follow-ups at 1- and 2-months. Significant improvements were observed in perceptions (p < 0.001), confidence (p = 0.017), and monitoring practices (p = 0.007) by the 2-month mark. Socio-demographic factors, including parental education level and household income, were associated with specific outcomes, such as confidence and monitoring practices. The findings demonstrate the module's potential to enhance parental engagement in HA care. Future research should examine long-term outcomes and assess the feasibility of broader implementation in clinical and community settings.
