Abstract

Lutjanus bohar Forsskål 1775, a large reef-associated fish species, is widely distributed across tropical and subtropical waters and is recognized as a significant commercial fishery resource. Here, the complete mitochondrial genome of L. bohar was sequenced using next-generation sequencing technology, and its characteristics were comprehensively analyzed. The mitochondrial genome is characterized as a closed circular molecule of 16,514 bp. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the L. bohar has the closest evolutionary relationship with L. bengalensis and L. apodus. The elucidation of this mitochondrial genome provides valuable insights into the phylogenetic relationship, contributing to deeper understanding of Lutjanus taxonomy.
