Abstract
Sciatica is nerve pain originating from the gluteal region due to the irritation of the sciatic nerve. It is often described as an ache starting in the lower back and radiating to the leg. The prevalence of sciatica ranges from 13% to 40%, with an annual incidence rate between 1% and 5%. In various Indian traditional medicinal references, it is mentioned with the Sanskrit term "Gridhrasi." This case report explores a holistic approach to treating chronic sciatica in a 48-year-old woman with the lower back pain radiating to her thigh, knee, and calf. She was diagnosed with sciatica and treated over 30 days with a combined strategy, including Panchakarma (purification), thermal cauterization, and internal medicine. The patient experienced prolonged and promising effects in signs and symptoms.
